MWPA Statement On Boys Water Polo

The Michigan Water Polo Association (MWPA) Board has officially voted to move Boys Water Polo back to the fall athletic season upon feedback from the MWPA Members.


The move is effective immediately. With the move, the Boys season will begin August 8, 2022. As set by the MWPA Policies, the MWPA Boys fall season is set by the MHSAA's start day to the fall sports season.


The Championship Dates for the boys season are as follows: The District Championships are set for October 21-22. The Regional Championships are set for October 28-29. The State Championship tournament, is set for Nov. 11-12. The Boys Fall State Championship is set by the MWPA Policies, which state the State Championship Tournament is to be played two weeks prior to Thanksgiving.


Championship Sites are to be announced. Bids for the District and Regional tournaments will begin shortly, while plans for the State Championship Tournament are to be announced.
