Matt has been involved in water polo for over 20 years first as a player, then as a coach, and now as an official. Matt is a former coach of the Michigan State Men's and Women's Club team helping guide the men's program to the 2021 CWPA club national title. In addition, he also coached the Okemos HS boys (2006-2013) and HS girls (2013-2017) team helping lead the girls program to the 2014 state title. Matt picked up officiating on a part-time basis starting in 2015 with a more full-time concentration since 2018.

 

He officiated numerous state tournaments, USAWP events including the National Jr. Olympic Tournament, Jr. Olympic Midwest Qualifiers/Zone Championships, and USAWP ODP National Championships. In March of 2025 he was named the top tournament official for the Development Age Group at the 2025 USAWP ODP Girls National Championships.

 

His focus starting his first full term as DOO is to continue to work with the development of all our officials.
