MWPA Announces the First Ever All Star Classic

The Michigan Water Polo Association (MWPA) is proud to announce the first ever MWPA All-Star Classic Games, which will be played on Sunday (June 13) at a to-be-announced neutral location.

Who plays in the All-Star Classic?

The All-Star Classic will be made up of each region's first and second team all-region performers. When the all-region selections are announced, first and second team players will have a week to RSVP for their spot at the All-Star Classic.

Should certain players on the first or second team's all-region teams not be available, honorable mention players will be invited as alternates in their place, in order of the points they received in all-region voting and by position of need. Each roster is limited to 15 players.

There will be a separate boys game and a girls game. Game times are to be announced, but will be played in the mid-day to allow for travel to-and-from at hours easy for driving purposes.

Additionally, the regional coaches of the year will be the head coaches for each team.

The All-Region teams will be released this coming weekend, details can be found here.

Who does it benefit?

The All-Star Classic benefits student athletes with exposure, an opportunity to be seen by college coaches and an opportunity to grow the game.

The All-Star Classic is also a fundraiser for the MWPA, which will allow the MWPA to continue to put on large scale events targeted to growing the game of Water Polo in Michigan.

How can I get involved?

The MWPA is looking for items it can sell off as a fundraiser. If your school has old tournament t-shirts it could donate to the event, the MWPA will sell them for you and get them out of the storage closet they're taking up.

The MWPA is also looking for volunteers to help with the event. Interested volunteers can email the MWPA board at board@michiganwaterpolo.com

Admission and Miscellaneous

An admission fee of $10 will be charged to all spectators at the event, proceeds to benefit the MWPA. Full COVID protocols are to be announced and contingent upon the site.
