The Michigan Water Polo Association's Coach's Poll is set to release in the coming month.
The boys poll will be released March 17th, and will represent the first boys poll since the fall of 2019. Boys season was postponed from fall 2020 to Spring 2021 this academic year.
Girls water polo state rankings will be released on March 18th. It represents the first poll conducted since Spring of 2019, being that girls water polo was cancelled last Spring.
"This is an opportunity to get some early season sizzle going," MWPA Secretary Harrison Watt said. "While preseason polls can be tricky to predict, it'll create some fun material. More importantly, without the current ability to pack the stands, we'll need to put out a lot of virtual content to grow our fan base."
Currently, the Hudsonville Eagles are defending State Championships on both the boys and girls sides. The boys, under the direction of Josh Ahrendt, are defending their first title after three runner-up finishes in the previous five seasons.
The Girls, coached by Ian Hewett, are in search of their fourth consecutive state title and fifth all-time championship. The girls squad also has a previous pair of runner-up finishes.
