Rebecca Godek

On July 13, 2020, Rebecca Godek was elected MWPA President for the first time. This is Godek's second stint on the board after serving as Member-At-Large from 2015-2017.

Godek is in a class of her own, as the only female coach in the MWPA to lead a boy's program to a state title, and one of few to win a State Championship on the boys and girls side in the same calendar year (2015) as the bench boss for Ann Arbor Skyline High School. A three-time MWPA Coach of the Year (2015, 2017, 2021) and USA Water Polo Doc Hunkler Award Recipient (2015), Godek has steered the ship for the Skyline girl's team for over a decade, since 2011.

 

She was also the head coach for the Skyline boys team from 2013-2018, and is currently serving as the assistant. She spent 6 years as a head coach of the Midwest Zone with the USA Water Polo ODP Program (2009-2016), and spent 2 years as the head coach of the University of Michigan Women's Club team during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Her head coaching debut was in 2006 where she served for one year with the Dexter girls.

Godek is the Co-Founder and Head Coach of Wolverine Water Polo Club, where she has served since 2012.

As a player, Godek starred for Ann Arbor Pioneer as a two-time All-American (2000, 2001) including 1st team all-state honors both years, and 2nd team all-state honors in 1999. Godek played for Pioneer from 1998-2001, Great Lakes Water Polo Club from 1999-2001 and the University of Michigan from 2001-2005
